Iran escalated the pace of attacks on American battleships on Wednesday while expressing its readiness to confront a potential ground landing.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the targeting of the American aircraft carrier “USS Abraham Lincoln,” stating that it was targeted with cruise missiles.

The Guard vowed to destroy the American fleet once its battleships enter the range of Iranian missiles.

The targeting of the “Lincoln” came as American forces attempted to return it to service in the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea, days after its disappearance following intense Iranian strikes that Western reports confirmed had hit it.

It also coincides with the US Department of Defense mobilizing paratrooper forces from several units to the region amid threats to attack Iranian islands in the Gulf, most notably “Kharg.”

Iran’s decision to attack the “Lincoln” comes in parallel with an escalation in the tone of threats towards American forces regarding any attempt at a ground operation.

The representative of the Supreme Leader in the Defense Council said that his country’s message to American soldiers is “come closer,” affirming its readiness for this confrontation for years.

For his part, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament confirmed that his country is monitoring all American movements in the region, vowing a humiliating defeat for them.

Iran’s intensification of the naval confrontation indicates its readiness to face the new American scenario, having succeeded in thwarting its plans to subdue it through aerial bombardment.
