On Wednesday, Iran threatened a military option to break the American blockade in Hormuz. This comes amid American insistence on continuing it, following the failure to subdue Iran.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Iranian officials made several statements indicating that eyes are on the Strait of Hormuz.
The Al-Mayadeen channel quoted an Iranian security source warning the US, indicating that a strong and different response will come soon if the American intransigence continues and Iran’s conditions are rejected.
The Iranian threat of a response came hours after statements by the political assistant of the Revolutionary Guard Navy, Mohammed Akbar Zadeh, who indicated in a press statement several options for Iran in confronting the blockade.
The most prominent of these options include burning large American ships, in addition to activating the closure of sea lanes in the region outside Hormuz, referring to Bab Al-Mandeb.
The Iranian threats come as the US hints at continuing the blockade, with its options in the confrontations diminishing.
American media reported that the Trump administration is leaning towards maintaining the naval blockade, considering the option of returning to war or withdrawing as currently unfeasible.
Iran had submitted new proposals to resolve the situation, including opening the Strait of Hormuz and ending the blockade and war, while the Trump administration insists that the agreement include the nuclear program, which Iran proposed to postpone negotiations on for another time.
