Settlers uproot 1,000 olive trees

On Sunday, a group of settlers uprooted and vandalized at least 1,000 olive trees in the town of Turmus Ayya, northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, as part of ongoing attacks targeting agricultural lands in the area.

Abdullah Awad, a member of the Turmus Ayya municipal council, explained that the settlers stormed the plain at dawn, accompanied by a bulldozer from the settlement of Shiloh. They proceeded to bulldoze agricultural land and uproot olive trees that had been planted years ago on an area estimated at 50 dunams (approximately 10 acres), belonging to families from the town.

Awad noted that the plain has been subjected to an escalating settlement campaign for about three years, which includes preventing farmers from accessing their land and repeatedly uprooting trees.

He pointed out that the settlers have uprooted approximately 25,000 olive trees during this period, in the absence of any official military orders or confiscation procedures.
