Six killed in Israeli airstrikes in the east and south of the country

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, that six people were killed in Israeli airstrikes targeting areas in eastern and southern Lebanon, amid an ongoing military escalation along the border.

The ministry said in a statement that the toll was preliminary, adding that the number of victims was likely to rise as search and rescue operations continued in some of the targeted locations, hampered by the ongoing bombardment.

This development comes in the context of a broad wave of Israeli attacks that, in recent hours, have targeted towns in the Western Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon, including Mayfadoun, Yahmar al-Shaqif, and Arnoun, as well as the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, resulting in deaths, injuries, and material damage.
