Iranian military official: We launched missiles at an American warship in the Strait of Hormuz in response to an attack on an oil tanker

An Iranian military official said on Iranian television this evening, Thursday, that the Iranian armed forces carried out a missile launch operation directly targeting an American military ship as it crossed the Strait of Hormuz.

The military official explained that this measure came as a legitimate and immediate response following an American assault on an Iranian oil tanker.

Earlier today, Iranian authorities denied via their official television the circulating news about an aerial attack targeting a dock on Qeshm Island, affirming that the situation is under control.

Informed sources reported Iranian television that the sounds of explosions heard across the island were not the result of external airstrikes but rather from the activation of air defense systems that successfully repelled a number of small drones that attempted to fly in the area.
