Forced displacement and Israeli attacks exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) confirmed on Saturday that Israeli military threats and repeated forced displacement in Lebanon are exacerbating the suffering of residents and diminishing their sense of security.

The international organization stated in a post on its X platform, “While residents are trying to rebuild their lives, military threats and repeated forced displacement continue to exacerbate their suffering and diminish their sense of security.”

MSF noted that “thousands of residents in Beirut’s southern suburbs are unable to access basic services regularly,” explaining that “repeated Israeli attacks have severely impacted roads, health centers, and water and sanitation networks.”

The organization continued, “Given the widespread damage inflicted on Beirut’s southern suburbs as a result of repeated raids and ongoing evacuation orders, and with the intensification of Israeli airstrikes in the south and the Bekaa Valley, there are fears that this situation will be repeated on an even larger scale.”

Doctors Without Borders warned that this situation “will force more people to leave their homes, further erode the foundations of decent living in entire communities, and increase the pressure on an already strained health system.”

It called for the protection of civilians and ensuring their safe access to essential services and healthcare.
