Qalibaf: Iran will prevent the attack on Lebanon, and our goal is to end the conflict, not normalize with Washington

The Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammed Baqer Qalibaf, affirmed on Monday that his country sees no contradiction between diplomatic work and military options, stressing that Iran will work to prevent any attack on Lebanon, following the recent round of escalation with the occupation entity after the latter bombed the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

Qalibaf stated that the experience of responding to the enemy’s violation of the ceasefire in Lebanon proved the ability of both the diplomatic and military paths to achieve progress and confront adversaries.

He indicated that Tehran would work to prevent any attack on Lebanon through the threat of response or through field action when necessary.

He added that Iran is not forced to choose between war and negotiation; rather, it will engage in both at the time it deems appropriate.

He also noted that his country’s goal is to end the war and establish sustainable security, not to normalize relations with the US.

Qalibaf pointed out that the Iranian armed forces are in a state of constant readiness, pledging to turn the naval blockade imposed on his country into a “new defeat for the enemy.”
