Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor: Israeli attacks on Lebanon violate humanitarian law

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Observatory has expressed its deep concern about the serious crimes committed by the Israeli army against civilians in Lebanon, especially in the southern and Bekaa regions, as it escalated its military attacks with intensive raids targeting civilians and residential areas. The Euro-Mediterranean confirmed in a statement today, Monday, that the Israeli army deliberately targets civilians without giving them enough time to clear the areas that are being bombed or provide them with any effective protection from the dangers resulting from military operations, as the bombing directly and indiscriminate civilian buildings. The observatory stressed that all Israeli attacks constitute grave violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention, the Additional Protocol, and the international humanitarian law in general, which obliges the warring parties to distinguish between civilians and fighters at all times, and gives special protection. For vulnerable groups, such as women, children, the elderly, as well as paramedics and journalists.
