In the area of protection, Omohanji noted the rise in domestic violence, child marriage, and severe psychological distress, pointing to a significant increase in the number of women experiencing suicidal thoughts who sought refuge in UNFPA-supported shelters, from 40 cases in 2024 to 100 cases last year.
The UNFPA representative called for continued support for health and humanitarian services in Palestine, emphasizing that women and girls in Gaza and the West Bank urgently need protection and sustained funding in an increasingly harsh and complex reality.
