On Wednesday, the United Nations announced that about 40 percent of more than a million people displaced in Lebanon due to the Israeli aggression have returned to their areas. This was stated by the UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, during his daily press conference at the UN headquarters in New York. Dujarric said that information from Lebanese sources and the International Organization for Migration indicates that nearly 40 percent of the displaced have returned. He considered this return an “important step towards recovery,” but noted that thousands of people are still displaced and rely on humanitarian aid. The UN spokesperson emphasized that the return of displaced people must be “safe, voluntary, and dignified,” while ensuring access to basic humanitarian needs. Earlier on Thursday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the toll from the Israeli aggression on the country has risen to 4,298 citizens killed and 12,196 others injured since March 2.
