The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) warned on Thursday that the situation in southern Lebanon remains fragile, despite a decrease in violence since late June.
UNIFIL indicated that it has intensified its operational activities in the area to support stability.
This comes as the Israeli army continued its military operations in southern Lebanon, carrying out a series of demolitions in the town of Khiam on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, in addition to another explosion in the town of Taybeh, the sound of which was heard in various parts of the south, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.
UNIFIL said in a statement that it “has been able to gradually increase its operational activities throughout southern Lebanon, in light of the recent decrease in the level of violence.”
It added: “As families begin to return to their villages, peacekeepers are reinforcing their presence to help consolidate the relative stability achieved in recent weeks.”
