The National Commission for Human Rights in Sana’a leveled direct accusations against the Saudi regime of deliberately and directly obstructing and freezing prisoner exchange understandings, describing the continuous procrastination on the part of the Saudi side as a flagrant violation of international laws and covenants that protect the humanitarian nature of this file.
Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The commission affirmed in a statement that the technical and logistical readiness on Sana’a’s part is completely complete after the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs finalized all arrangements and the implementation schedule, indicating that the only obstacle lies in Riyadh’s intransigence and its refusal to respond to the proposed lists and include the rest of the detainees in its custody, which exacerbates the suffering of hundreds of families and the families of detainees.
The statement renewed the demand to neutralize this thorny file from any political and military calculations or frictions, warning that continued obstruction rebounds with legal and moral consequences on the party responsible for the continued detention.
In concluding its statement, the commission called on the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and international mediators to move beyond the circle of silence and exert real and strict pressure on the Saudi authorities to force them to comply with immediate and comprehensive implementation according to the principle of “all for all,” and to guarantee the transparent disclosure of the fate of all missing persons and their places of detention.
