The “Jizan Refinery and its Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) plant,” which was targeted hours after Saudi raids on Hodeidah governorate and Kamaran Island in western Yemen, is one of the largest oil and industrial projects in the Kingdom, with an investment cost of about $21 billion.
Its oil refining production capacity reaches 400,000 barrels per day. This facility is also distinguished by having the world’s largest integrated gasification combined cycle power generation complex, with a production capacity of 3,800 megawatts, in addition to marine facilities dedicated to receiving giant oil tankers and securing export operations.
**Energy Within the Targeting Circle**
Sana’a forces had announced the execution of the attack with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones, confirming the targeting of sensitive sites belonging to Aramco in Jizan and Yanbu as part of the “siege-for-siege and escalation-for-escalation” equation, in response to the recent Saudi raids.
The attack reflects a shift in the nature of the confrontation, placing Saudi energy facilities within the direct targeting circle.
It is an indicator of Sana’a forces’ ability to carry out simultaneous strikes against distant strategic targets, reinforcing the deterrence equation based on targeting the economic structure in response to continued attacks on Yemen.
