The UAE showcases its success in foiling Saudi arrangements in the Red Sea

The UAE expressed schadenfreude on Saturday over Saudi Arabia’s failure to form a new coalition in the Red Sea.

Emirati media and elites devoted extensive coverage to reviewing what took place in Riyadh last weekend, where Saudi Arabia failed to form the largest coalition to protect its oil and ships in the Red Sea.

Among what those outlets focused on was the number of countries Saudi Arabia invited to participate in the meeting, foremost among them the UAE, Western countries, and the United States.

The number of participating countries, according to those sources, reached more than 43 countries.

According to what was circulated, only 14 out of the participants signed the coalition announcement statement, while the others, including the US and Britain, both key Saudi allies, refused, as confirmed by the UAE President’s advisor, Abdulkhaleq Abdulla.

The Emirati messages varied, sometimes portraying Saudi Arabia’s inability to form any coalition without Abu Dhabi’s approval, and at other times showcasing an Emirati role in sabotaging Saudi efforts to create the new coalition.

Saudi Arabia had announced a coalition of 14 countries at the end of last week, after having marketed the joining of 50 countries.

Saudi Arabia listed America’s name even though it did not sign the announcement statement. The Saudi coalition only includes islands outside the continent that don’t possess naval forces at all, or militias loyal to it in Yemen and Sudan.
