Iranian Source: Washington agreed to close the southern passage in Hormuz, and Tehran conditions the war to end to reopen the strait

An Iranian source revealed that the US has made a new concession to Tehran, agreeing to the closure of the southern passage in the Strait of Hormuz, within the framework of proposals regarding the management of navigation in the strait.

The source said on Monday that Iran responded to the American proposal by refusing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz before the war is completely over, affirming Tehran’s insistence on its position linking the resumption of navigation to the definitive end of what it describes as “aggression.”

Over the past weeks, Iran has accused the US of inciting commercial ships to use passages it described as “illegal” in the Strait of Hormuz, considering that this has led to the endangerment of some ships and forced others to return, amid the continued closure of the strait.

Tehran affirms its insistence on its right to manage navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with the Sultanate of Oman and the region’s countries, indicating that this arrangement is based on the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides last June.
