UN: Civilians and children are paying an unacceptable price in southern Lebanon

The United Nations condemned the Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon on Saturday that left dozens dead, stressing that civilians, including children, continue to pay an unacceptable price for these attacks.

“Heartbreaking reports from Ansar today, where children were once again among the dead,” said Imran Riza, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, in a post on the X platform.

“Children and civilians continue to pay an unacceptable price, and international humanitarian law is clear: civilians must be protected at all times,” he added.

Rida called for an end to the Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, emphasizing that “this violence must stop.”
