Sana’a Health Ministry: Suspension of humanitarian support deprives 15,000 health workers and 5 million children of vaccines due to the siege

The Ministry of Health in the capital, Sana’a, has revealed the catastrophic repercussions of suspending humanitarian support and politicizing medical aid, indicating that this has led to the deprivation of 15,000 health workers of incentives, the halt of operational expenses for more than 2,000 health facilities, in addition to the unavailability of 120 types of chronic disease medicines and the deprivation of about 5 million children of routine vaccinations, along with the exacerbation of patients’ suffering due to the closure of Sana’a Airport and the doubling of pharmaceutical shipping costs by 500%.

Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Anis Al-Asbahi, condemned during a press conference held at Kuwait University Hospital in Sana’a the practices and restrictions imposed on the entry of medicines and medical supplies, considering them war crimes under international humanitarian law, stressing that the use of the humanitarian file and aid as a political pressure card constitutes a flagrant violation of the principles of neutrality and impartiality.

For his part, the Director of Kuwait University Hospital, Dr. Abdul Latif Abu Talib, affirmed that the strict restrictions on the entry of supplies, anesthesia, emergency, and intensive care medicines have rendered the hospital unable to meet the needs of thousands of patients, explaining that the current crisis is a result of preventing the arrival of medicine and the imposed siege, not due to internal operational shortcomings.

The Ministry of Health concluded by demanding the immediate and absolute opening of all land, sea, and airports, and ensuring the flow of medical shipments and medicines away from all forms of political bargaining.
