Hamas condemned the Israeli bombing and destruction of the desalination plant in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, along with the targeting of displaced persons’ camps and tents, as a continuation of the genocide and the systematic destruction of the Gaza Strip’s infrastructure, and a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated on Monday that the targeting of the water plant, the intensified bombing of densely populated areas housing displaced persons, and the destruction of their tents confirm the ongoing displacement plan, despite the ceasefire agreement.
Qassem added that the continued aggression represents the height of disregard for the ceasefire agreement, noting that the destruction of the desalination plant in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood constitutes a direct violation of the agreement.
Israeli warplanes targeted the desalination plant and an adjacent prayer area north of Gaza City today, completely destroying them.
The targeting of the desalination plant exacerbates the water crisis in the Gaza Strip, which is already suffering from a water deficit exceeding 60%, with daily production plummeting from approximately 300,000 cubic meters before the war to less than 120,000 cubic meters. Today’s violations by the occupation resulted in the martyrdom of five Palestinians and the injury of others, including a child, in addition to a martyr who died from his wounds.
