The Guardian: The US Army faces a severe financial crisis due to the war on Iran

The Guardian newspaper revealed on Thursday that the war on Iran has caused a severe financial crisis for the US army, pushing the Navy to divert funds allocated for employee salaries and other sources to cover combat operations costs.

The newspaper reported, based on documents it obtained and testimonies from US Navy officials, that the US Department of War’s seizure of funds allocated for naval salaries has led to a shortfall in their accounts, amid the continued rise in military operations costs.

The newspaper quoted an official and a Navy contractor as saying that the financial crisis has also caused the postponement of non-emergency maintenance work on land facilities, as resources are being redirected to cover war expenses.
