Saudi measures tighten in eastern Yemen amid fears of losing major oil regions

Saudi Arabia escalated its measures against the Emirati-loyal Transitional Council in eastern Yemen on Wednesday.

This comes amid fears of losing the most important oil regions as the Council regains its peak activity.

The Transitional Council in Hadhramaut revealed in a statement published on its social media platform that Saudi factions had carried out raids on homes in Mukalla searching for its leaders.

The Council condemned the campaign and vowed to respond to it.

Among those wanted by Saudi Arabia is the new head of the Transitional Council in Hadhramaut, Ali Al-Jafri.

The Saudi campaign is part of tightened measures by Saudi Arabia in the oil-rich governorate.

The Saudi governor there issued decisions to tighten control over land and sea ports and to prevent the entry of four-wheel-drive vehicles, reflecting fears of the possibility of the UAE reinforcing its factions in the governorate to bring it down.

These moves come after the Transitional Council broke a ban on its activity in Mukalla and carried out an activity in the city’s streets.

The activity was held on the anniversary of the “Southern Army” and carried strong threatening messages to Saudi Arabia.

The activity came as the Transitional Council’s program to expel the “Saudi occupation” entered a new phase amid military developments in the scene.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia had preceded the Transitional Council’s activity by announcing the secession of Hadhramaut through the formation of a coordination council and subjecting the governorate’s file to the office of the Special Committee in Riyadh.
