The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that at least 12 people were killed, including two children, four women, and a paramedic, in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, at a time when the Israeli army has intensified its attacks on the area in recent days.
Eleven people were killed in a nighttime airstrike that destroyed a three-story residential building in the town of Kafr Rumman, near Nabatieh, while a paramedic was killed in another airstrike targeting a vehicle in the same town.
The Ministry of Health said that eight other people were injured in the building strike, including three children and a paramedic.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called on the United States on Sunday to take urgent action to stop the Israeli airstrikes in the south, condemning a “serious escalation,” after the occupation strikes killed seven people despite the declared ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah and the framework agreement between the Lebanese and Israeli governments.
In a statement, Aoun condemned the “renewed Israeli attacks on the city of Nabatieh and its towns,” considering it “a serious escalation that exceeds the repeated breaches of the ceasefire and the framework agreement” made between Lebanon and Israel on June 26.
