American hint at military involvement in Yemen escalation

The US revealed its involvement in the military escalation in Yemen on Wednesday.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed in a press statement that there is significant defense cooperation between Saudi Arabia and his country to confront security challenges in the region.

Rubio was speaking about ongoing developments in Yemen, indicating that his country is closely monitoring the situation, while simultaneously hinting at providing support to Yemeni factions loyal to his country and praising them.

Rubio’s statements came following a statement by the US embassy in Yemen inciting fighting against those it describes as the “Houthis” and attempting to justify the Saudi escalation, a shift in American discourse revealing a role in the escalation that Yemen has been witnessing for days.

The US had recently announced a new $1 billion arms deal for Saudi Arabia, while Hebrew reports spoke of preparations for a huge $6 billion arms deal for Saudi Arabia.

Yemen has been witnessing a Saudi mobilization process with the participation of regional and international allies for weeks.

The American moves, diplomatically and militarily, reveal an aspect of direct engagement in the war, despite the US administration’s attempt to show a side of neutrality in the statements of some of its officials for fear of the repercussions of a new defeat.

The new American moves don’t differ much from their previous war, which they led directly since 2023. However, this time they are trying to move under the cover of their loyal factions in Yemen, which they describe as the “legitimacy.”
