The Hebrew newspaper “Maariv” revealed on Sunday that the administration of US President Donald Trump has asked several countries in the Middle East to take preemptive and precautionary steps, in an assessment that any renewal of fighting will not remain confined to one front.

The newspaper indicates that regional capitals, including Riyadh and Amman, believe that the next wave of escalation, if it erupts, will be fiercer and wider in scope than previous ones, amid indications that Iran and its allies are prepared to operate on more than one front simultaneously.
The newspaper explained that “Gulf countries, foremost among them Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, have entered into intensive diplomatic contacts with the Americans and Iranians, mediated by Pakistan and Turkey, in an attempt to prevent the expansion of the confrontation and save the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.
