The Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, announced on Sunday the suspension of operations in all its departments except the emergency room due to a fuel shortage caused by the Israeli blockade.
This comes amidst the ongoing repercussions of the genocidal war launched by Israel against the Gaza Strip on October 8, 2013, accompanied by a tightened siege and widespread targeting of the Strip’s infrastructure and healthcare system.
In a statement, the hospital said: “We regret to announce the suspension of operations in all hospital departments except the emergency department, effective Sunday, due to the cessation of fuel supplies necessary for the hospital’s operation.”
The statement explained that the crisis has led to the suspension of operations in the surgical, maternity, outpatient, radiology, laboratory, dental, and vascular surgery departments.
The hospital warned that the continuation of the crisis will deprive thousands of citizens of treatment daily.
The hospital issued an urgent appeal to the international community and international health organizations to uphold their responsibilities and work to prevent the collapse of the healthcare system in Gaza.
