Withdrawal of the Giants from Kahbub After the “Houthis” Complete Securing the Borders of Taiz

The contact areas between Taiz and Lahj witnessed on Wednesday a withdrawal of southern factions as Sana’a forces completed their control of an important border mountain range.

Tribal sources reported that units of the Giants left their advanced positions in Kahbub with the loss of the battle there.

The Giants are part of several southern factions that preferred to withdraw into Lahj or what is known as the “southern borders” after the failure of attempts to support Islah factions in the southwestern Taiz countryside.

The latest statement today from the Giants spoke of an intensive attack by those they described as the “Houthis” on Kahbub, before their activists spoke of the movement completing its control of the mountain range in the southwestern Taiz countryside.

Kahbub is one of the most important strategic positions commanding the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, specifically the meeting point of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

It had witnessed strong battles in recent days with Sana’a forces’ decision to secure it after the coalition factions fled from Yemen’s western coast and attempted to reposition in the western Taiz countryside, specifically in the mountain range in Kahbub.

Prominent leaders in the Ansar Allah movement, foremost among them the leader Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, had previously directed messages to southerners containing reassurance regarding the course of the battle in the Taiz countryside and the western coast, while affirming that Sana’a doesn’t target the people of the south and east as much as it focuses on expelling Saudi mobilizations.
