The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in Sana’a affirmed on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia is the one that bears responsibility for what is happening of escalation in Bab Al-Mandeb, holding it responsible for turning the region into a battlefield and threatening maritime navigation.
Exclusive Follow-ups — Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The Ministry said in a statement issued by it that the international community is concerned with pressuring Saudi Arabia to comply with the entitlements of the Yemeni people, foremost among them lifting the siege and ending the war, instead of heading toward igniting a war in Bab al-Mandab.
It explained that Saudi Arabia has turned Bab Al-Mandeb into a battlefield, considering that this represents a real threat to maritime navigation.
The Foreign Ministry noted that the international community “moved heaven and earth” when the Yemeni people began to extend their national sovereignty over the lands belonging to the Republic of Yemen on the western coast and Bab Al-Mandeb, while it turns a blind eye to what Saudi Arabia has done in turning Bab Al-Mandeb into an area of fighting and military clash, on the basis that this serves the interest of the US and Israel.
The Ministry stressed that “the Saudi enemy is the one that bears responsibility for what is happening of escalation in Bab Al-Mandeb.”
It affirmed at the conclusion of its statement Yemen’s commitment to all international obligations toward the security and safety of maritime navigation, noting that Yemen’s exercise of its sovereignty over its lands, coasts, and territorial waters doesn’t constitute a threat to global navigation and trade, but will make them safer.
