Seven Gaza detainees held in Israeli prisons are released

On Wednesday evening, Israeli occupation forces released seven Palestinian prisoners from the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Abu Salem crossing in the southern Gaza Strip, after a period of detention in Israeli prisons. This release comes amidst the ongoing practice of releasing limited numbers of Gazan detainees at intervals.

Local reports indicate that many of the released prisoners from the Gaza Strip arrive suffering from the effects of torture and exhaustion, a consequence of the harsh conditions they endure in Israeli prisons and detention centers.

The release comes at a time of continued concern regarding the fate of thousands of Palestinian prisoners and detainees, amid reports of harsh detention conditions and a lack of information about the situation of a number of detainees from the Gaza Strip, who are being held by the occupation authorities in military camps and secret detention centers.

According to the latest data issued by Palestinian prisoners’ rights organizations as of early July 2026, the number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees in Israeli prisons is approximately 9,400, including 1,320 detainees from the Gaza Strip whom the occupation authorities classify as “unlawful combatants.”
