Mohammed Abdulsalam Reveals the Behind-the-Scenes of the Negotiation Stumbling: Riyadh Disavows the “Roadmap” and Exploits the Calm Efforts to Buy Time

The head of the Sana’a delegation in the political negotiations, Mohammed Abdulsalam, explained the details and developments of the political and negotiation track, in response to the false claims that allege Sana’a’s rejection of the negotiation path or the holding of meetings with the Saudi side in the Sultanate of Oman, revealing the extent of the Saudi disavowal of the humanitarian obligations and previous agreements.

Sana’a — Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Abdulsalam affirmed that following the speech of the leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Abdul Malik Al-Houthi, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Hijrah 1448 AH, and what it included of sincere calls to end the siege and accomplish the urgent humanitarian remedies, communication took place with the Saudi side — directly and through diplomatic channels — to demand the immediate implementation of what had been previously agreed upon within the “roadmap” prior to the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle.

He noted that Sana’a presented a package of practical and constructive proposals, but the Saudi side did not show any seriousness or positive step, betting on the regional and international shifts, and deluded that tightening the economic and living siege would impose on Sana’a a political surrender that it was unable to achieve militarily on the battlefield.

In a related context, the head of the Sana’a delegation noted that the capital Sana’a warned the Saudi side repeatedly and repeatedly against the consequences of taking any escalatory step, specifically the targeting and bombing of Sana’a International Airport on the 13th of July 2026, with emphasis on the necessity of allowing the return of the official delegation, the stranded, and the sick. Despite those warnings, Riyadh proceeded to bomb the airport in a blatant provocative step that aborted the state of truce and de-escalation, which pushed the Yemeni Armed Forces to undertake their legitimate duty of military response to protect the sovereignty of the homeland.

Regarding the regional mediation efforts, Abdulsalam explained that a few days after the start of the response operations, the brothers in the Sultanate of Oman presented several proposals and initiatives for calm, including the approval of a temporary truce for five days to allow room for calm negotiations. He made clear that Sana’a interacted with high responsibility and expressed its approval within three days to stop the escalation whenever the Saudi side committed to meeting the humanitarian demands.

However, Riyadh — according to Abdulsalam — procrastinated and delayed for about 21 days before handing over its response, coinciding with the launching of military operations and intensive field mobilizations on the western coast front, and the Saudi response being devoid of any positivity toward the humanitarian file; which confirmed beyond any doubt that the delay and the new Saudi positions were nothing but exposed methods to buy time and a complete absence of a sincere desire to achieve a just peace.
