Gaza Municipality: The sector is suffering from a severe water crisis

The spokesperson for Gaza Municipality, Hosni Mahna, said on Wednesday that the Gaza Strip is facing a severe water crisis that requires urgent intervention, pointing out that there is a serious shortage of water resources due to the ongoing Israeli blockade and the extensive destruction of wells and water networks by the occupation, which has led to complete destruction of water facilities and reduced the per capita share to levels insufficient for daily consumption.

Mahna added that the sector is facing a huge deficit in water resources, exceeding 70%, due to the occupation’s severe destruction of the system.

He confirmed that the governorates in the Strip are facing a serious environmental and health crisis due to sewage water leaking into the streets, amid the occupation’s refusal to allow the necessary spare parts needed for maintenance of the entire water system.

Mahna emphasized that the agricultural lands in Gaza are in urgent need of rehabilitation after the massive destruction they have suffered since the start of the genocide war.
