Iran: War in Yemen Was Not Necessary, We Stressed on Political Solution

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, stressed that the war in Yemen was not necessary, and that his country stressed that the solution is political and the armistice is one of the ways Iran has proposed to resolve the crisis in this country.

Commenting on the developments in Yemen, Kanaani was quoted by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) as saying: “The issue of Yemen is of great importance to us and we have always announced that the armistice is the beginning of a political solution in Yemen, and it is one of the steps to establish stability in this country.”

Kanaani called for the abolition of the unjust embargo on the Yemeni people, saying: “We encourage the political solutions provided by the United Nations to Yemen,” stressing that the continuation of the truce is achieved through the implementation of the second item of lifting the embargo on the Yemeni people.
