Unique Uprising of Wholesale, Retail Traders in Aden

The port city of Aden, southern Yemen witnessed on Tuesday an unprecedented uprising of wholesale and retail merchants, following the imposition of illegal measures against them by the pro-UAE militia, YPA reported.

Media in Aden quoted merchants as saying that the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia have imposed huge taxes on them, but did not give them bonds except for small amounts.

Traders called for demonstrations in the city to denounce the measures that caused the rise in the prices of commodities, especially foodstuffs.

Aden has been witnessing a state of tension among the merchants, amid the closure of commercial shops and the destruction of others aimed at blackmailing them only.
