Sana’a revealed on Wednesday the text of a new American message regarding the events in the Red Sea.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Salvation Government, Hussein Al-Azzi, stated that the US Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, proposed suspending the designation of the Ansar Allah movement on the “terrorism” list in exchange for abandoning Gaza and ceasing operations in the Red Sea.
Al-Azzi, in a post on his official social media page, said, “The US ambassador to the group of hotels says that we must seize the opportunity and abandon Gaza because the designation will be issued next week.”
Al-Azzi described the ambassador’s proposal as funny, pointing out that he doesn’t have to wait for a week but rather now, at this moment.
The US administration had announced its decision several weeks ago to include the Ansar Allah movement on the international sanctions list as part of its efforts to pressure Yemen to halt operations against Israeli navigation in the Red Sea.
The decision, approved by the US State Department, will go into effect within a week after being delayed for a whole month in the hope of Yemen’s compliance.
Al-Azzi’s statements confirm Sana’a’s consistent position of supporting the Palestinian people, while the American offer indicates Washington’s concern about the failure of the sanctions card to achieve its agenda.
