WHO warns of health problems in Gaza

The World Health Organization has warned that high temperatures in the Gaza Strip for a long time could become a major problem, and that hot weather exacerbates all kinds of health problems.

In press statements, the organization’s spokeswoman, Margaret Harris, pointed out that there are about two million people living in tents in Gaza Strip. Plastic tents in Gaza are outdoors and protect little from heat, she said.

She explained that the situation in Gaza weakens the body’s immunity due to the hot weather, warning of the spread and exacerbation of infectious diseases. The UN official touched on the lack of clean water in Gaza, and the per capita consumption there of less than 2 liters per day.

She pointed out that 712,000 cases of upper respiratory tract infection, 380,000 cases of diarrhea, and 87,000 cases of scabies have been detected since October.
