Hebrew media: Trump surprised us by stopping the bombing of Yemen and didn’t promise to protect Israel from Sana’a

The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Tuesday, an agreement to a ceasefire between the US and Sana’a, stating that the contacts made by the Sultanate with the two parties resulted in this agreement.

Follow ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

US President Donald Trump stated in statements that his country will immediately stop the air strikes in Yemen, claiming that “the Houthis have informed the US that they no longer want to fight.”

In a related context, the American CNN network quoted a defense official as saying that the US military received instructions to halt attacks on Yemen on Monday evening.

In contrast, the “Israeli” media were surprised by Trump’s announcement, as the American Axios website quoted a senior Israeli official as saying, “The US didn’t inform Israel in advance of the truce with the Houthis,” adding, “We were not aware of the decision… The American president surprised us.”

The Hebrew Channel 12 confirmed that Israel is “shocked” by the decision to stop the bombing, while other media questioned the implications of the decision on its security, noting that Trump “did not mention the continued protection of Israel from Houthi strikes.”

It also pointed out that “the Israeli political level is puzzled and trying to understand the intentions of the American president, especially with regard to Yemen or what he described as the ‘grand announcement.'”
