UN: Gazans’ situation is catastrophic, they face the risk of death

Various areas of the Gaza Strip were subjected to waves of Israeli bombing yesterday, Saturday, leaving dozens dead and wounded. This coincides with the third month of the deadly blockade on the Strip.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that the situation is catastrophic, as the Strip faces a comprehensive Israeli blockade. Amid anger in Europe and calls to accelerate the entry of food aid, former EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell asserted that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, noting that half of its bombs are from Europe.

Meanwhile, efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip are entering a critical phase over the next three days, amid reliance on effective US pressure exerted by the administration of President Donald Trump on Israel in an attempt to reach a truce agreement before or in conjunction with Trump’s upcoming visit to the region, which is accompanied by a series of speculations about specific measures and decisions.
