UNRWA: One in three children in Gaza has not eaten for 24 hours

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that one in three children in the Gaza Strip has not eaten anything in 24 hours due to the lack of food supplies caused by the Israeli blockade.

UNRWA added in a brief statement that, “According to a rapid needs assessment in Gaza conducted by the International Rescue Committee, one in three children went a full day without food in the past 24 hours.”

UNRWA noted that “the price paid by children and their childhood in Gaza is unbearable,” noting that, given these harsh conditions, many children are forced to resort to work or begging.

The UN agency reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire, saying, “The children of Gaza need a ceasefire now.”
