The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Monday that thousands of families in the Gaza Strip still do not know the fate or whereabouts of their loved ones amid the ongoing war.
The ICRC stressed that international humanitarian law requires the respectful treatment of bodies and the preservation of their dignity, emphasizing the need for proper documentation and tracing procedures.
It explained that it supports forensic authorities and the Ministry of Health in managing and documenting bodies, which will later allow for their identification and enable families to finally close a painful chapter in their ongoing suffering.
