This comes amid a severe shortage of pesticides and hygiene supplies, threatening the lives of thousands of families, especially children and the elderly. This occurs at a time when official warnings are escalating about the risk of disease outbreaks in the Strip.
Displaced people say their suffering has become unbearable, with a rise in skin diseases and itching, and the spread of gastroenteritis and respiratory infections, at a time when the health sector is suffering from a severe shortage of resources and medicines. Residents warn that children are the most affected, especially given malnutrition and inadequate healthcare.
For his part, Khalil al-Daqran, spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, sounded the alarm, confirming that the hospital is receiving increasing numbers of patients daily suffering from illnesses related to environmental pollution. He warned that the continuation of these conditions threatens widespread outbreaks that will be difficult to contain.
