The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced a severe crisis threatening the operation of medical laboratories and blood banks in the besieged Strip, confirming that 86% of the basic needs of these facilities have been completely depleted, a dangerous indicator of the collapse of diagnostic and treatment capabilities.
The Ministry explained that blood gas testing reagents have run out entirely at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital laboratory, while the remaining quantities in other hospitals will only last for a few days. This places patients’ lives at grave risk and paralyzes the ability of medical teams to monitor critical cases.
In its statement, the Ministry of Health called on all relevant parties to intervene urgently to expedite the provision and entry of medical supplies for laboratories and blood banks, warning that the continuation of the crisis will lead to a new humanitarian catastrophe, adding to the suffering of the health sector in Gaza.
