A sharp rise in fuel costs pressures American airlines

Fuel costs for airlines in the US recorded a sharp increase exceeding 56% during March compared to the previous month, according to recent government data.

Economic analysts considered this a clear indicator of the repercussions of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East on the aviation sector in light of the American aggression on Iran.

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics of the US Department of Transportation stated in a release on Wednesday that oil consumption also rose by 19.5% between February and March, while the cost of fuel per gallon increased by about 31%.

The statement indicated that current cost levels are significantly higher than those recorded in March of last year, reflecting the escalating operational pressures on airlines amidst global energy market fluctuations.
