The Parliament in Sana’a warns Saudi Arabia against tampering with Yemeni wealth and violating national sovereignty

The Parliament in the Sana’a government warned Saudi Arabia on Wednesday of the consequences of proceeding with measures that affect Yemeni national sovereignty, as represented by the draft memorandum of understanding signed between the Saudi Geological Survey Authority and the Aden government, which the Parliament described as the “mercenary government,” indicating that it involves risks related to geological data and sovereign information of Yemen.

In a statement, the Parliament said, “We warn the aggression states and their mercenaries of the potential repercussions of this memorandum and any resulting damage affecting Yemeni wealth or its exploitation under the cover of this understanding.”

It added that “this measure constitutes a violation of Yemeni national security in its economic and military aspects, and dealing with it or accepting it represents a squandering of national sovereignty.”

The Parliament described the memorandum of understanding as an illegal measure issued by entities that do not represent the Yemeni people, indicating that any agreements made by what it called the “mercenary government” do not bind or represent the Republic of Yemen.

The Parliament’s statement affirmed that geological data are part of national economic security, warning against what it called “tampering with Yemeni wealth.”

The Parliament also renewed its warning against any trends supporting projects to divide Yemen or harm its capabilities and wealth, affirming the necessity of holding accountable any entities that claim legitimacy to represent Yemen outside the framework of the capital, Sana’a, regarding sovereign files.
