The newspaper Haaretz considered on Sunday that the continued resilience of Iran in the face of American and Israeli pressures has dragged Israel into an ongoing war of attrition on the Lebanese front.
Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Israeli military analyst Amos Harel said that the US administration led by Donald Trump is so far avoiding resuming the broad war against Iran and at the same time refuses to withdraw from the Gulf without an agreement restricting the Iranian nuclear program, keeping the state of tension open.
The report indicated that Washington continues the naval blockade south of the Strait of Hormuz while maintaining a widespread military presence in the region, while Tehran shows no signs of backing down, despite economic and military pressures.
According to Haaretz, this deadlock directly reflected on the Lebanese front, where Israel finds itself stuck in a prolonged confrontation with Hezbollah without achieving a “clear picture of victory,” despite the military superiority and the significant losses the Israeli army speaks of.
The report noted that Hezbollah succeeded in exposing vulnerabilities within the Israeli defense system by using fiber-optic drones, which made it difficult to detect and intercept it.
Harel added that Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon have gradually turned into an unplanned war of attrition, with the intensity of direct clashes diminishing while destruction and shelling continue, warning that the situation could develop into a long-term conflict ending in the establishment of a new security zone without guaranteeing border stability.
