OCHA: One in five children in the Gaza Strip is an amputee

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that one in five children in the Gaza Strip is an amputee, and that approximately 53,000 injuries require lengthy rehabilitation, according to estimates by the World Health Organization.

In a post on the “X” platform on Wednesday, the office added, “Currently, no rehabilitation facilities are fully operational, and more than 400 patients are on waiting lists for care.”

With American and European support, the Israeli occupation army has committed genocide, siege, and starvation in the Gaza Strip for more than two consecutive years since October 7, 2013. This has resulted in the deaths of 72,742 Palestinian civilians, the majority of whom are children and women, and injuries to 172,565 others to date—a toll that is not yet final, as thousands of victims remain under the rubble and in the streets, inaccessible to ambulance and rescue teams.
