Saudi Arabia summoned further Pakistani reinforcements on Monday amid escalating tension with its smaller ally.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Reuters news agency quoted sources as saying that Pakistan has deployed new forces in Saudi Arabia for the second time.
The new forces include approximately 8,000 soldiers, in addition to an integrated air defense system and a squadron of fighter jets.
Earlier last month, Pakistan had deployed a Chinese defense system in Saudi Arabia.
The summoning of Pakistani reinforcements comes amid escalating tension in the Gulf despite the state of détente in Iran.
Earlier today, the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced the interception of a new attack carried out by 3 drones.
Although Saudi Arabia indicated that the attack came from Iraq, its timing sparked divergent comments among social media users, especially as it came just hours after the UAE announced a similar attack from the direction of the Saudi border, carried out by 3 drones, one of which struck the Barakah nuclear plant in the city of Al Dhafra, adjacent to Saudi Arabia.
Although the two regimes are trying to avoid public disagreements, their relationship has been experiencing its worst phase since the beginning of the year, particularly after Saudi Arabia bombed Emirati military vehicles in the port of Mukalla in eastern Yemen, coinciding with a campaign to uproot UAE factions in the south.
The addition of 8,000 Pakistani soldiers to previous forces indicates, according to experts, that Saudi Arabia is arranging a ground invasion rather than a defensive mission.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan recently entered into a crisis with the UAE following the latter’s decision to deport thousands and loot their property, in addition to its refusal to renew a deposit for Islamabad and its insistence on repaying it.
