For the first time in a while, the Yemeni Defense Minister, Major General Mohammed Al-Atifi, has reappeared on the scene, this time carrying the Saudi file. What does that mean?
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
In recent months, Sana’a has been sending messages to Saudi Arabia, whether on the diplomatic level or through repeated speeches by its leaders, foremost among them the leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi. However, Riyadh continued to deal with these messages with arrogance, as if they did not concern them. Today, as the tragic situation in Yemen, both north and south, reaches its peak due to the continued siege and aggression through devious means, Sana’a has decided to raise the level of messages to Saudi Arabia. It began with a statement from the Mobilization Committee, followed by political messages, before formally transferring the file to the Ministry of Defense, whether through the first statement of the official spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, related to the aerial operations against Abha Airport in response to the Saudi aggression on Sana’a Airport, or the recent statement by the Defense Minister, in which he affirmed readiness to deal with the Saudi aggression.
These developments reveal that Sana’a’s patience has indeed run out, and there is no longer room for political maneuvering. Official media there quoted sources in the negotiating delegation affirming that they are fed up with Saudi maneuvers and evasion of implementing the truce entitlements that have been ongoing for years. In doing so, they affirm that the situation has become bigger than diplomatic handling.
The transfer of the Saudi file from the political to the military side indicates that Sana’a has decided on a single path to deal with Saudi Arabia, with no return and no room for bargaining. It is either acceptance of everything currently proposed, including the complete lifting of Saudi guardianship over Yemen, or confronting the military force that Saudi Arabia understands well.
The Defense Minister’s statement may be a confirmation of combat readiness and preparation for the coming battle, but his rare appearance indicates that Sana’a is at its highest readiness for the battle, especially as it has worked in recent days to complete the circle of war, from popular and tribal mobilization to political alignment, culminating in the completion of military preparations for the battle.
