America isn’t ready for a new battle with the Houthis

The US army expressed reluctance on Wednesday to open a new front in the Red Sea.

This comes following statements by US President Donald Trump regarding Yemen’s decision to ban Saudi navigation in the Red Sea.

Reuters news agency quoted American officials as confirming that restrictions on the US army continue, keeping all necessary systems focused on the war with Iran.

The military sources reported that a battle in the Red Sea might require transferring American warships from the Gulf to the nearest location, which they considered impossible given that nearly 20 warships and hundreds of military aircraft are currently focused on the confrontation with Iran.

The US army’s revelation came following Trump’s statements, in which he said that his country should respond to any targeting of commercial ships in the Red Sea.

Trump tried to avoid making any escalatory statements regarding Yemen.

The American moves reveal a reluctance to engage in further escalation in the Red Sea, especially after the experience of March last year, when Yemen nearly sank one of the aircraft carriers and destroyed several of its F-18 fighter jets.
