From Sana’a Airport to Hodeidah Port… A New Saudi Exposure in Yemen

Saudi Arabia is intensifying the siege on Yemen by air and sea, while trying to deny any connection to what is happening there. So how has Saudi Arabia been exposed without realizing it?

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Two weeks ago, Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes on Sana’a International Airport. It did not remain silent but rushed to blame its factions for the raids while marketing itself as being outside the war framework.

Saudi Arabia was trying to adopt a new narrative to avoid the repercussions of any escalation in Yemen and succeeded to some extent in passing this propaganda on some of its mercenaries. However, it did not take long before it itself announced that it had launched airstrikes on Hudaydah Port.

Overall, Sana’a Airport is the only air outlet for millions of citizens in the north of the country, while Hodeidah is their maritime lifeline. Targeting them represents a link in the chain of the air and naval siege that Saudi Arabia has sought to impose since the very first moment of its war on Yemen in March 2015, as a scenario with diminishing chances of its military success in the war.

When targeting Sana’a Airport in the middle of this month, Saudi Arabia was trying to mislead public opinion with claims about arming its factions with aircraft. However, it showed the extent of its malice towards Yemen by adopting, on the tongue of the coalition spokesman, Turki Al-Maliki, earlier today, the aggression on Hodeidah Port. Targeting the vital port is considered a continuation of the already tight Saudi siege.

There is nothing new in the Saudi aggression on Yemen, whether it is Sana’a Airport or Hudaydah Port. The port has previously been subjected to American, British, and even Israeli strikes, and so has the airport. However, the most important point is that Saudi Arabia has officially emerged from the cloak of marketing itself as a neutral mediator to revealing itself as an enemy and an explicit party – a fact that many were unaware of.
