World Health Organization spokesperson Tarik Jasarevic said that thousands of patients in the Gaza Strip, which is under Israeli blockade, are still waiting for medical evacuation despite the ceasefire being in effect. He said this in response to a reporter’s question about the latest updates on medical evacuations from Gaza, amid ongoing difficulties and calls from many patients for help to receive treatment. Jasarevic explained that 12,913 patients have been evacuated from Gaza since October 2023, including 6,186 children. He added that 16,000 companions have also been evacuated with the patients from the Strip since that date. He confirmed that medical evacuations take place three to four times a week, adding: ‘Last week, between August 2 and 8, 101 patients and 164 companions were evacuated. And thousands of patients are still waiting for medical evacuation.’ The Ministry of Health in Gaza had reported that Israeli attacks have injured 4,145 people and killed 1,258 others in the Strip since the ceasefire came into effect on October 10, 2025.
