A human rights study has documented 317 cases of suspected enforced disappearances during the genocide in the Gaza Strip, with estimates suggesting the total number of cases could range between 2,500 and 3,000.
The Palestinian Center for Missing and Forcibly Disappeared Persons released the study to coincide with the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, based on reports submitted by families of missing persons and cases documented by the center in the field.
While the sample does not represent the full extent of the phenomenon, it reveals recurring patterns of disappearances linked to military operations, incursions, displacement, and checkpoints, as well as the movement of civilians in search of food and aid or their return home to obtain basic necessities.
