The Director of Education in East Gaza, Munir Abu Zaiter, stated that the directorate inaugurated the academic year at the Al-Tuffah government school, located near the Green Line, in a message that, he said, affirms the commitment to education and the residents’ determination to remain in their areas despite the difficult circumstances in the Gaza Strip. He added that the start of the academic year represents a return to normalcy and the resumption of the educational process in Gaza, noting that the war had destroyed a large number of schools and deprived students of in-person learning for an extended period.
He explained that the Ministry of Education and its directorates resorted to establishing alternative schools, some of which were set up in tents, to provide temporary spaces to accommodate students and compensate for some of the learning loss resulting from their interruption of schooling.
